WHAT MAKES SOME WIG BRAND PRICES HIGHER THAN OTHER BRANDS?
Just as in any other business which sells manufactured products, there are differences in the quality of the hair and fiber used, and also in the construction of the wig. Jacquelyn, as well as other high quality wig manufacturers, use only the best quality fibers and human hair available in the manufacture of their products. Some synthetic fibers, such as Advanced Elura fiber and some of the new Kanekalons, have a higher heat tolerance than lesser quality fibers, minimizing the "frizz" problem which occurs in cheaper synthetics. Even though most human hair is not from Europe, some human hair has been processed to resemble European texture, giving you the appearance of European hair without the high price.
Virgin European human hair is the most beautiful and expensive hair in the world. The value of any human hair is determined by its color, sheen, texture and silkiness. Depending on the quality, the average price on a genuine Virgin European hair wig starts about $700 for a pre-designed short style to about $1700-$2500 for longer lengths and custom-styled wigs, and can run over $3000 for custom-made wigs. Jacquelyn and Georgie offer 100% Virgin European hair wigs, both pre-designed and custom. We offer a selection of these fine wigs on our website.
Also because better quality wigs are constructed for durability, they have a longer lifespan than average quality wigs. With proper care, even a 100% synthetic can give you 2 to 3 years' wear. Please note that I said, with proper care!
I can put it another way: Say you want to buy a new car. You can choose a Chevy or a Cadillac. The Chevy will take you where you want to go and (relatively speaking) the price is cheaper. On the other hand, even though the price is higher, the Cadillac will take you where you want to go in luxury, style and comfort, and chances are you'll be driving it long after the Chevy has gone to it's greater reward. We handle only the best quality wigs available.
IF I PAY A HIGH PRICE, DOES IT MEAN I'M GETTING A BETTER QUALITY WIG?
The cost of a wig is not necessarily an indication of the quality of that wig. We live in a free market economy, and businesses can charge whatever they can get for their products. Some salons charge inflated prices, where others use a more moderate formula to determine their prices. The same brand and model of wig can vary sometimes hundreds of dollars from salon to salon. Sometimes this can't be helped. Many salons in larger cities have to maintain high overhead costs, and that's why they have to charge more for their products and services. By and large, if you are looking for the cheapest price, you can find the best pricing on any particular wig by purchasing from an Internet dealer as opposed to a "brick and mortar" wig store. The biggest drawback to making your purchase on the Internet is that you will give up the personal touch of being able to try on the wig before you buy.
How do you know if you're getting ripped off? You don't really. The best way to know if you're getting a good value is to buy your wigs only from an experienced and reputable dealer, whether at your local wig store or from an Internet dealer.
